This text offers a glimpse into the early years of David Grant's vet career. He would put his sprinting and hurdling skills to the test when he needed to make a quick exit from the pen of a hostile quadruped and learn to dodge flying hooves, but his life as a vet was not just about pain and poop.

Editorial Reviews
From the Author
this book is an account of my first year in practice in 1968
I had a lot of fun writing the book. The triumphs and disasters came flooding back as I wrote, even though the events happened over thirty years ago. I wouldn't change anything looking back The sixties were a fun time to be a practicing country vet -much easier than now. David Grant
Customer Reviews
A must-read for a newly qualified vet!
I qualified as a veterinarian in 1996 and started up in a predominantly Large Animal practice. Grant's worries as a newly qualified vet, his good and bad days and his experiences three decades ago are only marginally different from what I lived (and still live!) through.
"Just Practising" is an entertaining read and I highly recommend it!
excellent
up to date reading of all creatures great and small ,i did not want it to end more please David.
A really good book that kept me reading late into the night.
This book is an absolute delight to read. The events and characters are so well related and described that you almost feel as if you had been there! Mr. Grant has judged the pace of the book just right and it held my interest as I read late into the night. I can't wait for the next book.
