WOW!
This is one of the best books I have read, especially the sex scenes, they were so hot! As in the words of another reviewer 'I want that man!'His attraction for Niema was so intense, you felt the pages were going to catch fire I just couldn't wait for them to end up in bed. I have read all of Linda Howards books and this was definately the best. If you liked this book then try Iris Johansen's 'The Ugly Duckling'.
This book was eagerly awaited and lived up to expectations
All The Queens Men is the story of a secret agent who has lived his life in shadows, whose very existence is shrouded in secrecy and who is alone because loyalty and patriotism preclude anything else. He has found his perfect partner in Niema whose own talents and adventurous spirit are the only possible match for a man who doesn't exist.
The circumstances of the death of Niema's husband have forged a peculiar intimacy between them, which is unacknowledged by Niema. Five years later, John takes the opportunity to try to force Niema out of her grief induced guilt by offering her a job. Initial hositility reveals itself as attraction and we're off.
The conflict arises out of Niema's guilty denial of her own nature and John's deep reserve. I disagree completely with the reviewers who felt that John's character wasn't well enough developed. With characteristic knowledge of her own characters Linda Howard portrayed perfectly a man who SHOULD be difficult to know. The sex scenes are perfectly in tune with the character's i.e. ruthless, physical and steamy as opposed to romantic and dreamy. This is a superbly crafted character driven novel on the lines of Ms. Howards earlier romances only with more grit and better sex. You will love it!!
Loved it!!
This story is based on a character previously found in Kill & Tell. Unlike some of LH's work which can be too soppy and almost rape-like in her sex scenes, this has far more intrigue and suspense in it. ALthough, of course, there are a couple of steamy sex scenes thrown in for good measure too. If you liked this book then buy Kill & Tell and also Mckenzies Mission - which is still my favourite.
