Sisko has to face personal demons and combat treachery
Sisko is asked to be present as the new USS Saratoga- A is unveiled at the Utpia planitia Shipyards. But he is uneasy about meeting up with his former crew-mates as their very presence reminds him of the horrific battle of Wolf 35, where he lost his beloved wife Jennifer.
But he soon realises that there is more gong on then a simple dedication ceremony. Although he is happy to see his old comrades ( many of whom we previously had limited knowledge of ) he soon realises that the trip to Utopia Planitia is sabotaged. Sisko has to deal with the pain of Jennifer's death dredged up by a former crew-mate as well as trying to discover who is trying to destroy his crew. How can Sisko leave behind the years of service and beleive that one of the people who saved his life can be responsible for trying to destroy it?
I enjoyed this book as it dealt with a time in sisko's life which was never really explored in the tv series. I liked the chararcterisations and the plot but I flet that the enigma of who exactly was the traitor could have been more drawn out. And I would have liked to know more about the Saratoga's crew past but on the whole this book was a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who was interested in Sisko and his former commands.
