Delivers the goods - The best SQL server book - buy it now !5
A comprehensive guide to all aspects of SQL server which is clearly written in an accessible style. This book has helped me transfer my existing DBA skills in Informix/Ingres to SQL server. I liked the worked examples which help greatly in understanding key features such as backup and restore. One niggle is that the section covering master databse recovery omits the fact that the database must be in single user mode (sqlservr.exe -m). I can also recommend:- Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Administrator's Pocket Consultant - Microsoft Press The Guru's Guide to Transact SQL - Henderson

Summary of Microsoft Documentation2
Although I have no particular problem with the book I was expecting more from it. Judging by the reviews it had received I was expecting in-depth technical detail. As far as I can tell this book is not much more than a summary or selection of the Books On Line documentation. Having said that it is probably a good start for someone new to SQL Server 7.0

Easy to understand but still keeping the depth5
I required a book to use as a reference and to teach me how to implement functions within SQL 7. The book filled this role.
