When Angel first came to Los Angeles, it was the fast-talking, half-demon Irish-American Doyle who first explained to him the mission for which he was destined: the saving of lost souls. All the more ironic, then, that Doyle himself was the one Angel couldn't save. Reconciled at last to the heritage he had long denied, Doyle sacrificed his life to save a shipload of helpless, peaceable demons from a Nazi-style extermination crew. But Doyle's legacy lies not only in the gift of visions he bequeathed to Cordelia with their one and only kiss. Unaware of their danger, Angel and co. are unprepared for the visitor at their door. Intending to free him from what he sees as the human taint that has always held him back, Doyle's demon father, Axtius, is none too pleased to find instead that his wayward son is dead. Meantime in Sunnydale someone apart from the Slayer is slaying. The victims, strangely, all appear to be human-demon half-breeds. The trail leads Buffy to Los Angeles, where before long she and Angel find themselves in the front line to stop an avenging fury from wholesale slaughter...

Amazon.co.uk Review
It's always good to see Angel and Buffy back together on screen or in print and in Monster Island they find themselves facing ghosts from Angel's past and a mysterious killer who is slaying human-demon hybrids. Doyle was part of Angel's original team when he first set up camp in Los Angeles, but Doyle gave his life to save others and left Cordelia the power to see the future in visions. Now Doyle's father has turned up and he is none too pleased to discover that his son is dead. In Sunnydale, Buffy is tracking the party responsible for a spate of murders of half-human, half-demon breeds and it's a trail that leads right to her ex-lover's door in LA. Now Buffy and Angel find themselves teamed up to stop a full-scale massacre being played out on a vengeful scale.
Golden and Sniegoski have already plenty of experience penning Buffy and Angel's book-based adventures and their collaboration is a top-notch effort of slam bang action and great, snappy dialogue that perfectly captures the mood and zest of the TV shows. The plot is rather thin, however, and seems quite stretched at times with scenes and threads that simply pad out the story rather than add to it or push the narrative along. Fans however will be totally thrilled to see their favourite doomed lovers fighting together again, and the continuation of the long-defunct Doyle story line (the character seems to have been forgotten about in the TV show) is a nice addition for die-hard fans. It's a little too long but it moves along faster than a flying stake and has more bite than most of the Buffy and Angel team-up novels that have gone before. --Jon Snow

Buffy & Angel reunited for a epic struggle!
Finally what every Buffy and Angel fan has been waiting for: A perfect reunion for our doomed lovers. The story starts in Sunnydale where the 'pure-blood' demons start massacuring the mixed-blood. Buffy and the scoobies investigation leads them to LA and Team Angel who have started noticing the same happening on their home turf. The leader of this Nazi-like movement turns out to be closely related to Doyle who used to help Angel and Cordelia when they first moved to the big city and blames Angel for his death. With this set-up Team Angel and the scoobies work together to try and end the bloodshed.
This book is great as every character has at least one great scene where they shine. The story is set early in season six of Buffy and pre-Connor on Angel and much of what is to come is shadowed here. Tara and Willows love for each other. Willows growing addiction to magic. Wesley's feelings for Fred. Angels ponderings about fathers. Spikes feelings for Buffy. It all adds to the realistic feel of the story as the gang from Sunnydale are suprised at how much Wesley and Cordy have changed. Gunn gets to bicker with Spike. Cordelia's 'diplomacy' is great. And there is plenty of action as Angel and Buffy slow down an army, before a HUGE battle!
This book is simply the reunion where all the characters meet and work with each other and you wished you'd seen it on the Big-screen - this is the movie they should have made! It has some very tender moments between Buffy and Angel, where they both know that they've said all they have to say to each other, but it doesn't effect how they feel. If you're a fan this is a must have- reunions don't come more bittersweet.
Best Buffy/Angel book iv'e ever read
Monster island is the best Buffy/Angel book i have ever read. It has all the regular characters from both shows, it's great to see the gang reunited.
To Buffy/Angel fans somethings in the story will be very familiar. My favourite parts are when Spike and Angel are together you know what them two are like.
I couldnt put this book down, i was up till 3 in the morning reading it. Id seriously recommend this book to anyone. So please get yourself a copy and thank me later.
Amazing!
It captured the maturity of all relationships and somehow managed to focus on all characters without spreading the attention too thinly. Every character got their chance to shine (except maybe Anya, I would've liked to have seen more of her in this book). It is exciting, detailed but still fast-paced and doesn't lose your interest easily. I highly reccommend it to all Buffy and Angel fans. It was wonderful to see the reactions between characters like Cordelia and Xzander, and all the scenes with Spike and Angel together captured their chemistry amazingly! Wondeful book I loved it. :-)
