Product Description

Children are different. They are not just small adults but are growing and changing all the time a fact that must not be forgotten or ignored when children are ill.

This new textbook of paediatrics offers a unique approach that takes the age of children into account. It is divided into two separate and distinct parts: Section 1 deals with children at various ages from before birth through adolescence and studies the normal growing child and common illnesses, using a symptom-based approach; Section 2 provides a mini encyclopaedia of paediatric disorders, their aetiology, incidence, clinical presentation, diagnosis and management. Cross references provide the necessary links between the two parts to avoid repetition.

Clinical Paediatrics and Child Health was written primarily with medical students in mind and should form an excellent foundation andcompanion for their paediatric course. In addition, the book will be useful to general practitioners, nurses and others who need a chronological overview of the common signs and symptoms of childhood illness and a short reference book of paediatric disorders.

core pediatric textbook4
One of the new generation of core paediatric textbooks that have appeared recently. This book is primarily aimed at the undergraduate medical student but will also prove useful for those doctors preparing for postgraduate paediatric examinations. The added value is that it follows the format established by Kumar and Clarke's Clinical Medicine-colourfull with useful information boxes and charts.I particularly enjoyed the new horizons section after each chapter which offers insight in new developments in Paediatrics. A wellcome addition to the field and should become one of the undergraduates favourite texts

Excellent textbook5
This is an excellent paediatrics textbook modelled on Kumar and Clark. There is a short developmental section followed by a comprehensive systems-based approach so you get the best of both worlds. The text is written incredibly well, making it readable, yet comprehensive; it is especially useful at the start of the attachment because medical jargon is either defined plainly or avoided where possible. This book has the added bonus of being extremely colourful; this immunises you against the average technicolour paediatric ward and also makes the important points obvious. Second only to learning all the Pokemon names buying this book is the best preparation for a paediatric attachment.

It's ok...4
It's a nice textbook. It has a really nice format (compared to Lissauer's) and is easy to read BUT the content is minimal compared to other Paed Textbooks. Go for Rudolph and Levene's I say...
