Average customer review:Product Description
The new edition of this well-known text is an introduction to general pathology: a subject that bridges the divide between the basic biological sciences and the practice of clinical medicine. The functional and structural changes that occur in cells and tissues as a result of direct damage by, or reactions to, a wide variety of unfavourable circumstances are described. Full account is taken of the rapidly increasing understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Great for reference and revision
This latest edition by Prof. Woolf is compact in both content and size. It is true to its name in that it deals with the fundamentals of Pathology and is therefore by definition not disease specific. This limits its use for the somewhat more clinically keen of us, although it provides essential coverage of the topic. This is achieved with the effective use of short, snappy chapters, which contain useful "summary" and "key points" boxes. The preface boasts of the book's lack of needless photographic illustrations which are replaced with the more revision friendly line diagrams - I am inclined to agree! All in all this is a great book for reference and revision.
