Product Description

Medical ethics is a topic of increased importance in the new undergraduate curriculum and this textbook willprovide the only resource published in the UK which is aimed specifically at medical students, rather than experienced practitioners. Realistic case studies introduce the discussion in each chapter - highly suitable for case based courses - while there ispractical coverage of all the issues likely to be of concern to students during their medical careers. This includes informed consent and refusal of treatment, confidentiality, euthanasia, advanced directives, negligence and malpractice, the new genetics, abortion and the rationing of health care.

Customer Reviews

Easy to read text4
Ethics is one of those subjects that is very important in medical practice, which in my experience most students feel can mostly be left until just before an exam to revise! This text goes into a lot of the historical context of received wisdom, which forms the basis of most ethical theories, but it is done in such a way as to make it relevant to the current medical student. Although possible to use this as a revision guide, due to the nature of the subject be prepared to read fairly large chunks of the text to fully understand the principles. Generally speaking, a very easy text to read and understand that would be highly compatible with most schools curricula.
