Essential, essential and essential
Being a medical student, you can only have a few weeks to fight for the Psychiatry. Oxford Textbook of Psychiatry is left to those who get distiniction; Pscyhiatry at a glance is too simplified. Puri's Pocket Essential of Psychiatry is probably the best for those beginner. The text are well structed, and diagnostic criteria for some improtant disease such as schizophrenia and BAD are provided, while in some less important disease, the text is core and concise enough. The size is suitable for u to bring to the ward for grand round, when the professor is looking at the case notes, you can revise what you learn using this pocket sized book. It makes you life easier during Psychiatry module.
