The Handbook of Equine Anaesthesia continues to offer sound practical guidance on all aspects of sedation and anaesthesia in horses. It covers anaesthesia in a logical way from pre-anaesthetic preparation through to induction, maintenance and monitoring recovery; as well as highlighting any problems and special situations. This second edition now devotes a new chapter to analgesia.
As an easy reference book, it is designed for everyday use by the equine practitioner; from those who anaesthetise many horses daily under theatre conditions, to those who anaesthetise just a few a year. Moreover, it is useful for veterinary students, giving them a complete overview of equine anaesthesia.

Customer Reviews
A superb book for rotations and revision alike.
Kathy Clarke was in fact one of my lecturers on the topics of anaesthesia, and she was excellent. One thing she was though was a bit complicated with her explanations, a bit too in depth if you like, well luckily this book isn't ludicrously over the top full of equations to calculate the percentage vaporization or Sevofluorane at a certain temperature, no. This book is one of very few books with the words Equine in the title that I liked reading.
Its ideal for stuff in in your pocket on rotations or EMS when you're going to be doing Equine related surgery (and whats more handy is that it fits in your pocket too, with a nice wipe clean plastic coated front and back cover). It has fast reference tables for looking up the dose rates of certain compounds, more than enough pictures so as to not make you overcome with words, and all the pertinant information you could need on the subject. Which is why its also great for revision, cos lets face it we need something to make anaesthesia a little less dull to revise and a little easier to understand. I don't like equine medicine, but this book is fantastic. I mean really.
