A good German
THIS is the real story on which the new Tom Cruise movie SHOULD have been based......... THIS is the one that truly illustrates what the phrase 'a good german' meant in the English language ie: someone who could not exist in Mac Millan's words.......... this book shows the betrayal of a man who was accepted in this country as one of 'our own', but when he made the honourable decision to fight Hitler and fascism from within its own country, he was betrayed by the very body which accepted him before the war...... Read this one for the reality of what it meant to be a "true german"
von Trott zu Soltz was the real deal - more so than von Stauffenberg, who was never accepted, nor lived or was educated, in this country.
This is the story the movie should have told. So sad Hollywood bought the wrong script again.
A True Hero
The story of Adam von Trott zu Solz is the triumph of righteousness.
I recommend that Christabel Bielenberg's autobiography 'The Past is Myself' is read in conjunction with this biography. The Bielenbergs were friends of Adam and an other members of the German resistance and the plotters of July 20th.
