Average customer review:Product Description
In this practical and authoritative handbook, Wicca's leading authors Janet and Stewart Farrar define the principles underlying all spells and explain why a successful spell is composed of three elements: intent, visualization, and will-power. Careful at all times to observe basic rules of responsibility - that a spell should never intend anyone harm or manipulate anyone against their will - this is a comprehensive guide to ways of effective spell-casting. This book covers all aspects of spell making - including psychic self-defence, sex magic, cabalistic magic and talismans. There is a generous collection of actual spells, past and present, drawn from history, literature, folklore, old grimoires, and the years of experience of the authors. Spells of love, healing, problem solving, weather and binding combine in this unique addition to the literature on magical working.

A fascinating insight into the history and ethics of spells
A detailed, thoroughly researched, introduction to the methods and morals of practical magic. Full of anecdotes and words of wisdom from other witches, the Farrars have once again produced a work that appeals to the idle spiritual wanderer as well as to committed witches. Including spells from other lands, from our own history and not forgetting the ever popular love spells, this book is far superior to the ordinary high-street spell books as it conscientiously includes tips for psychic defence and the often abandoned ethics of spell casting that should not be ignored. Curses and will-imposing is strictly frowned upon. As a witch myself, I can assure you that this is an informative and entertaining read that handles it's subject with sensitivity and skill. This was one of the books that brought me into the happy world of paganism and I'm sure it will influence even the greatest of sceptics.
FAB INFO ON THE BACKGROUND OF SPELLS
m*m, I've got a slightly older edition of this book but i think its still a great read. Its not a spell book lets get that straight, its a book that goes into detail about different types of spells and the history of them. They give some of the olde spells from 13th century to the present day and also gives the background and how to do them yourself. There are lots of stories not only from the Farrars themselves but other practicin witches, both in covens and solitaries. I love the way the Farrars can write and make you feel like your talkin to them. Also me being a Brit makes me pro too but they are lovin people and they were my first "touch" with Wicca and Witchcraft, so they hold a special place for me in my heart, soft spot like. Even though i am a teen solitary they are fab writers and dont say anywhere in here that covens are better than solitarys or vice versa and the stories help with understanding things. I send love and light to Janet and also to Stewart, may his next incarnation bring as much love and light to the amount he did this one! B*B
very interesting
