A little gem of a book5
This book is both a culinary Tour de Force as well as an excellent Travel-log.
A great introduction to the real tradition of Indonesian cooking over its vast archipelago,
with its colourfully rich and diverse culture.
Perhaps more aimed at experienced foodies, who are at home with Oriental cooking -
as unfortunately, i.e. not a single photo was included with any of the dishes.
Nevertheless, this is a worthwhile book to read, keep, and try out at home for any adventurous cooks.
As an Indonesian expatriate living abroad for too long - this book is a God-sent cure for homesickness.
The recipes enable me to recreate the food I enjoyed as a child - here in England.
Bringing back the palatal delight I thought only possible to enjoy at home in Indonesia.
I was surprised by the authenticity of the taste - and the stories which accompany each dish adds extra dimension to a mere plate of food. Seriously recommended - even by a real Indonesian !!!
