Customer Reviews
BEING AN OLD SKIN IT'S A VERY GOOD PORTRAYAL
it brought back many memories of what it was like to be there at that time, (i even recognised a few faces in the photo's) a very good read, a must for all you oldies.
Great for skins or sociologists
This book was fantastic. Plenty of pics to keep a skin happy and plenty of info for those who want to be skins, or know about the subculture and it's history, a bit dated now, but a classic book.
For Skins Ancient and Modern
Along with George Marshall's 'Spirit Of 69',Knight's 'Skinhead'is a central pillar in the sparce Skinhead dharma.Published in 1982 at the height of the second generation of Skins, the book is a mainly pictorial chronicle of the culture as it stood then, but not exclusively.A Jim Ferguson fashion notebook traces every style nuance from the 68-71 halcyon age in obsessive detail.Harry Hawke's discography lists less obvious Skinhead anthems for the discerning sound of 68-71.With compassion and impartiality,Dick Hebdige offers,'This Is England! And They Don't Live Here',an historical observation of Skinhead disenfranchisement.Knight's own photography is largely based around a group of East End Skins.Be it 12 year olds in Crombies or girls in boxing gloves, each subject gazes disspassionately into the lens, presenting the Skinhead worldview in all it's ambiguity.Straddling the generations, this is a compulsive volume for Skins ancient and modern.

![The books [and CD's] I'd like for Christmas.. (please!!)](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51DV7AJT2ZL._SL75_.jpg)
