The Beatles Complete Scores?...... Not Really!!2
Okay, all the songs are here, including the songs thatt they covered like Mr Postman, Twist & Shout etc, but I'm afraid that's where the good things stop with this book. If only they had taken the time out Like Mark Lewishon and done thier research properly then this book would have been perfect, but unfortunatly because it was compiled by people that just don't care or even know the beatles material we're left with a book that falls way short of being complete or even acurate.

There are way too may mistakes for this to have been created by a "Fan" of the music. Just a cursery look at the Budokan footage tells me that George Harrison played If I Needed Someone with a capo on the 7th fret of a 12 string Rickenbaker, but in the book the capo is not used and you have to struggle with playing the song in an un-natural way.

For the casual guitarist learning the songs it's a boon, but if you're at all serious about learning these songs properly use it merely as a starting point.

A Classic Tribute5
A classic tribute to a band that inspired everyone one from Oasis to The Buzz Kids.
Rousing, classy, anthemic - but always pure pop.
True The Fab Four didnt write Anarchy In The Uk by The Pistols - If Looks Could Kill by Frankie Flame or Suburban Rebels by The Business - but every other great pop song is down to them.
Lennon and Macca will never be equalled or bettered - just simply copied.

Afraid I have to agree with negative reviews (mostly)2
While there are some things that are quite well done in this collection (and some things that one shouldn't realistically expect, such as variations in the parts when a section is repeated), there are some very inadequate transcriptions as well.

As a pianist, I can vouch for the keyboard parts being completely wrong at times ("Martha My Dear" is one that I haven't noticed mentioned by others). Given the method used---having several people working separately, one for each type of part---it's not all that surprising that some aspects are weaker than others. For the job to be done really properly, it will probably be necessary for the transcribers to have access to the original multitrack master tapes (where available). Some day, perhaps.

That said, I think anyone who doesn't want to take the trouble to figure out what was played by listening to the songs can learn something from this book. Better borrowed from the library than bought, however, at the price.
