Synopsis
This biography of the Manic Street Preachers examines the group's Welsh origins and their success. It recounts how the group faced local hostility when they first formed, how one of them vanished and how the remaining members went on to become one of the biggest selling groups in Britain.

Customer Reviews

Not awful but could be better3
Once you get past the start, which makes you wonder if it's about Wales or the band, this book is okay. It is very Richey centred. Fans with more than a passing interest won't learn anything new. If you want a book on the Manics, buy 'Everything' by Simon Price.

An interesting study but spoiled by several glaring errors3
A interesting read for Manics devotees and a good starting point for the newer fan. However, it has the feel of a work that has been collated a little too quickly with the assistance of previously published material. It exhibits limited first hand knowledge of the band with few new snippets for the more well read fan.

As a reader brought up within 12 miles of Blackwood I found the author's scant knowledge of the geographical area threw up some alarming comments.

In no way do I claim to be a great authority on the Manics but that's the point I make. On occasions information already in the public domain and well documented occurrances are misquoted.

A pleasant and enjoyable read but don't stop here.

intelligent read, with a few glaring , loud errors3
Not as bad as it could be. mr. middles gets a few things wrong. It's very Richie biased, the others barely get a foot in the door. A good cure for a long train journey.
