Average customer review:Product Description
The techniques of resist and masking, used in the making of ceramics, can produce interesting results. The use of wax, paper, clay and other materials to prevent the effects of heat, fire, smoke, chemical reactions, colours and glazes from altering or contaminating the surface of a piece requires a long learning process, often complicated by considerations of the state of the clay or which form of glazing is to be used. The author here discusses the techniques of masking and resist, and gives guidance on how to use the various materials and firing methods to achieve a wide range of finishes. He uses the work of an international group of artists to illustrate his methods.

Clear and inspirational
Covers a large variety of teqniques with clear intructions on how to do the various techniques. Very inspirational, my only gripe is that it could use more colour photo's instead of the dull black and white that cover most of the book.
