Average customer review:Product Description
Auditioners often complain of seeing the same speeches over and over again. This book brings together 50 speeches for women from Shakespeare plays frequently ignored such as Coriolanus", "Pericles" and "Love's Labours Lost". It also includes good, but over-looked speeches from the more popular plays such as Diana from "All's Well That Ends Well", Perdita from "The Winter's Tale" and Hero from "Much Ado About Nothing". Each speech is accompanied by a character description, brief explanation of the context, and notes on obscure words, phrases and references - all written from the viewpoint of the auditioning actor."

Buy this book if....
I have an audition for the NYT on Wednesday, and my Shakespeare speech was chosen from this book. The information about the speech is sometimes not very relevant, and I would reccomend reading the full text as well. Overall, it is a good book, although I still think that the overdone ones are the best!
A GOOD STARTING POINT
I found the pieces in this book helpful and not often used at auditions. The help notes and scene summaries were good and made me to want to look for my own pieces and review the scenes for myself. The entire play needs to be read so that your interpretation and performnce of the piece is true to the play.
