This is a picture book of many of Rowland Hilder's never before published watercolour paintings. It contains images of a wide variety of places throughout the British Isles, all rendered in Hilder's inimitable style. The pictures are accompanied by an essay written by his son-in-law Rado Klose. It gives a very personal insight into the private, family man as well as into the well-known artist. This book should be a must for all Hilder enthusiasts. Most of the images in the book have never before been published so fans will want this book to add to their collection. The book will also appeal to all lovers of British landscape paintings. The recent Dimbleby television series highlighted the British enthusiasm for landscape paintings and this book should find favour even with those who hadn't come across Hilder and his work before.

Customer Reviews
20th century style - at it's best!
This is a really lovely book focussing on the landscapes of this stylish British land/seascapist. Once very popular, Hilder's "chocolate boxy" style has given him a bit of a cheesy rep. in the Art world but this book shows off the consumate skill and facility of this artist. It is full of wonderful quality reproductions of Hilder's artful paintings accompanied by an interesting and personal text by his son-in-law - Rado Close. This is as enjoyable a coffee table book as you will find.
yup
great book on a great artist - look at david bellamy as well - no not the one with the speech impediments and facial fungus!
