Product Description

This volume of "Common Worship" is a special hybrid publication. On the one hand it contains the ordination liturgies (BCP and CW) of the Church of England but it is also a study guide for these services. The texts of the services are annotated with references to Scripture alongside other authoritative statements of the Church of England e.g. "The Canons of the Church of England". This edition is intended to facilitate study of the texts by all who are interested in what the Church of England teaches, and especially by those who are themselves preparing for ordination together with those who arrange and lead ordination services. It includes: introduction by the House of Bishops; The Common Worship Ordination Services (for Deacons, Priests and Bishops); The Ordinal (1662); a brief history of ordination rites; a commentary by the Liturgical Commission; and, celebrating ordinations - a practical guide.

Compline is one of my favourite sets of prayers and this book from Common Worship is pefect. Easy to read and follow.

A good purchase for any Church.

AN INVALUABLE RESOURCE5
This is a practical guide to ordination for those who are tasked with organising a service, but it is also a book through which it is possible to reflect upon the nature of threefold ministry and the way diaconal, presbyterial and episcopal responsibilities are defined as they are implemented. It offers insight and guidance to ordinands and clergy, as well as containing the full texts of each ordination procedure with advice on robing, seating and other such matters.
