Customer Reviews
Helpful, compassionate-she knows what she's talking about
As someone who has experienced agoraphobia and all the pain it creates, it was a relief to find a book by someone who can offer advice because she has experience too. The autobiographical parts of the book are comforting, reassuring and honest. So-called 'mental problems' are so taboo, she's really brave to be so open. Her writing style is easy to understand and not too heavy and her advice and help great. A self-help book that IS a help! Practical and not in the pop-psych style of self help. If you want to relax and be anxiety and fear free, read it (then DO it!)
comforting but evangelical
Comforting in its honesty and accuracy, a generous book. But unfortunate in its outlook on psychiatric meds, which have helped many people, and strange in its worship of Dr. Meares, when meditation is an ancient tradition. At times felt evangelical in its anti-med and pro-Meares stance. There are many paths to wellness. This is a very inspiring success story.
