A fellwalkers guide, that brings the Lake District to you when you cannot be there. The set of books were all written by hand, with drawings and maps by the author; this alone makes them somewhat unusual publications. The Lake District and Wainwright are now inseparable. I really want the entire set for my next birtrhday...

The CLASSIC lake district guide
If any guidebook series does not really need an introduction then Wainwright's magnificent series fits the bill.I have had the series since they were first published and though minor details have changed in some routes, wainwright's guides remain the definitve guide to the Lakeland fells.I have had hours of pleasure from reading them whether at home or using them when walking.It does not matter how many times you climb a particular mountain ,it still remains a joy to read about them in wainwright.
