'Great Simple Seafood' - does what it says...
We all know fish is super-healthy and the ubiquitous High Street fish 'n' chippie proves we think its pretty damn tasty too. So how come we're all so scared of cooking the stuff?
Well this book dispels any fishy fears once and for all. In refreshingly down-to-earth lingo, Tonks talks the reader through the simple steps to choosing, buying and cooking great fish recipes. A self-taught fishmonger and chef, his style is singular for it's honest simplicity - as he says 'the best seafood dishes I have eaten are those that required the least effort'. That says it all - and should be inspiration to us all to have a go!
This book is BRILL
This book is quite simply the best cookery book I have ever been fortunate enough to own.
It is very easy for both the beginner, and the experienced cook to follow. In the world of cookery books, it is often a fine line that is trodden between patronising the reader and losing them with overly technical terms, but Mitchell does not suffer from this - his tone throughout is just about perfect, and should appeal to all across the board.
The book is punctuated with stories and anecdotes that make it very clear that Tonks has an unparalleled love of all things scaly - there are many helpful tips with regards to how to spot a fresh fish from a not so fresh one which one can put to great use on the rare occasion that one happens to stumble across a quality fishmonger outlet.
This book could well be the springboard for greater things for the boy Tonks - my guess is, he will go far. I implore you, if you have any interest in the culinary side of the ocean whatsoever, the you must buy this book, immediately. I look forward with anticipation to Tonks' next written installment!
