Changing perspectives have shown the advantage of studying a period from the late 10th to the early 13th century rather than one beginning in 1066.

A helpful overview of the historical controversies surrounding the Norman Conquest. Prior knowledge of the period is presumed. More detailed works, such as scholarly articles are required if you need in-depth information on the debates as Chibnall only offers a brief overview which summerises the assertions of key contributors.
