funny & cute
i love this book. it makes me laugh. however if you are looking for something that dips into witchcraft a little more deeply i recommend "to ride a silver broomstick" which is excellent for beginners.
Make it STOP!!!
I realise that we have to work hard to get our religion recognised so that we arent seen as freaky satan worshippers, but turning witchcraft into a dumb little fashion is NOT the way to do it. I'm guilty to admit that just a few months ago I was reading this kind of thing- Silver RavenWolf, Marina Baker, Fiona Horne etc- its all fluff. I am sooooooooooo sick of all these fashionable little books. I mean, puh-lease "The best witches always look fabulous"- reinforces the whole witch=pretty young thing stereotype... If you are serious about studying the craft, treat yourself to some Scott Cunningham, Farrar or Starhawk, not this tosh.
The perfect alternative to a girls' night out
This book was given to me by a friend, and served many of us well. Whether or not the spells work is largely irrelevant because you and your friends will have such a good time drawing unflattering pictures of the ex in question, and collecting the ingredients, and then burying them all in the garden in the dead of night that it really won't matter. I haven't tried all the spells yet, and to be honest with most of them it's fairly obvious how they work (e.g. the sex spell involves wearing very little and thinking about sex for a long time beforehand!, soft music and candles etc). A perfect gift - even if the person has no real interest in witchcraft. No real procedures are followed, like casting the circle, and it probably doesn't always follow the Wiccan Rede, but it doesn't take itself too seriously and that's always a good thing.
