About the Author
Hugh Clout, D Lit, FBA (born 1944) is a Professor Emeritus of geography at University College London, and former Dean of the faculty of social and historical sciences. He holds doctorates from the University of London and the Sorbonne. His research focuses on post-war reconstruction in France after the two world-wars, the geography of London, rural geography of France in the past and the present, and the history of geographic thought and practice in France and the UK.
