About the Author
Eric Hill was born in London in 1927. He left school at 15 to work in a shipping office in the city. At 16 he joined an art studio as a messenger where he was encouraged to draw cartoons in his spare time. In 1976 Eric's son Christopher was born and when he was 2 years old Eric made up a story about a small puppy to read to him at bedtime. In 1980 'Where's Spot?' was published and the rest is history.

An appealing introduction to the delights of Spot
Eric Hill's Spot is an evergreen favourite with babies and toddlers enjoying the first pleasures of story time and rightly so. This book is an appropriate introduction to the Spot character, having all the added appeal of the different farm animals and their noises as he searches for baby animals on the farm. It also has the added dimension of teaching the older child the names of each kind of baby animal (i.e. a baby horse is a foal, and so on) so that you should get your money's worth out of this one for some time to come. The lift-up flaps are a delight to young babies from around 12 months who, in my experience, cope well with them even when the book has paper, and not board, pages as in this case. And of course the parent gets all the fun of providing the animal noises. My child loves all her Spot books but this one gets dropped in my lap over and over again!
Terrific interactive book for your budding youngster
I have bought lots of other lift the flap and board books for my toddler but this has been his favourite since he was 12 months old. He loves lifting the flaps and listening to the various attempts at animal noises I make! Good strong flaps built imaginatively into the story as parts of the scenery. More pages than most baby books which gives you both time to get really involved but not so long your child becomes bored. Also recommend buying the board book version as this has sustained quite a battering!
OK for little ones... not for me
Meet Spot and his father, Sam, as they go to the farm to look for baby animals. You can learn some names of baby farm animals like, Lambs, which are baby sheep, Foals, which are baby horses and Calves, which are baby cows. But none of those little animals are at the farm: only their parents are - which baby animals are there? Find out in this great book...
Eric Hill, the author of this book, has become very well known for his `Spot' series which were started in the early 1980's. Spot is also known as `the World's Favourite Puppy' as he is an all time favourite Pre School character and probably will forever be.
I would rate this book 7/10 although it is not very suitable for me but more appropriate for children aged 3 - 7. It has flaps to open and there is a surprise which is around half way through the book...
