THE meta-analysis book
If you're serious about meta-analysis, this is THE book to get. It's not an idiot's guide - it's a detailed reference book that covers all the methods in great detail. There's even a chapter on how to use certain software. It's written clearly, and you'll not need much else for most forms of meta-analysis. If you want some references for rare Bayesian network meta-anaysis or unusual methods, then go for Sutton's "Methods for meta-analysis in medical research", but you'll probably still want to get Egger's book anyway.
