Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Administrators Pocket Consultant
Administering SQL 2005 is quite different to previous versions of SQL Server this books provides a very useful overview of the new graphical administration programs. A great resource for anyone that is new to SQL 2005 or wishes to migrate from previous versions.
The book very readable and I especially like the side notes, which come in Note, Tip, Caution, Real World and Best Practice forms. These give very useful practical information, which will help you avoid some the common problems that get posted to newsgroups.
A staple book for the SQL Server DBA
If you know a SQL Server DBA chances are they have a dog-eared copy of Stanek's book somewhere.
It's small enough to fit into a briefcase, but has enough content on SQL Server administration to make it the must-have reference for many of the common tasks a DBA has to cope with on a day to day basis.
Not the kind of thing you're going to read from cover to cover, but you'll always want to keep it within arm's reach, to dip into as and when you need it.
