About the Author

Gary David Bouton is an author and illustrator who adopted the personal computer after 20 years of creating artwork at a traditional drafting table. Inside Adobe Photoshop 5.5 is Gary's ninth book on Adobe Photoshop; he has written eight other books on computer graphics for New Riders Publishing, in addition to being a contributing author to three books on CorelDRAW.

Gary has won several international awards in desktop publishing and design, and he was a finalist in the 1996 Macromedia People's Choice Awards. A contributing writer to Corel Magazine and other publications, Gary is also moderator emeritus of the CorelXARA discussion list on i/us at http://www.i-us.com/xara.htm. Photo Enhancement Bible
If your thing is photo manipulation, then this is the book to buy. If you are looking for further reading on using Photoshop for web related use, then this one is probably not one to go for. This does not diminish its quality however, I have found it particularly good for improving previously boring photographs. Highly informative and the cd is very good too.

The tools that your ideas were looking for
A big upgrade from Photoshop 4: I used this software profesionally to restore & manipulate photos, do web art & poster designs. The book was a very good reference indeed. If you'd forget a few procedures, it put me back on track. Excellent for creating your own web-graphics, and I've done cool in-store posters as well. It simply explains how the tools work, and your creativity finds lots of uses for them
