Synopsis
More than any other group of competitors, endurance athletes depend on a continuous supply of fluids and fuel to maximize performance. To successfully compete in marathons, triathlons, adventure races and other endurance sports, they need a nutrition plan that works over the long haul. Written specifically for these hard-core competitors, this book tells readers what works - and what doesn't - in actual training and races. The author details how to handle extreme environments and reach or maintain a healthy body weight. She also provides specific advice for women and vegetarian athletes. This book shares the experiences of world-class endurance athletes, including two 2000 Olympic Games hopefuls: Karen Smyers, former Hawaii Ironman Champion and ITU World Triathlon Champion, and Keith Brantly, 1996 Olympic marathoner. Included are actual nutrition plans these and other athletes have used, complete with tips on how athletes can apply thes strategies and how to avoid common endurance training and racing mistakes.

Customer Reviews
A very basic nutrition book
This book is a good first stop for nutrition advice, but really won't give you any detail or competitive advantage. It could have been written 10 years ago, there is no up to date research at all.
