Synopsis
Some days it is not easy being a witch especially with the challenge of practising your craft in a world of nine-to-five mortals. This comprehensive guide to magickal living spans the intellectual, physical, as well as magickal and philosophical aspects of a witch's life. It focuses on the history and development of modern Wicca; its core beliefs and practices; and magickal techniques such as successful spellcasting, aura reading, and Tarot and rune reading.

Invaluable5
This is as the book quite rightly says a guide for the modern witch!!

I feel this book is primarily aimed at female witches which is good for me :) there contains lots of information on menstruation and this is also a brilliant introductory guide for the new witch as well as those who have been in the craft for a long time.

I have got so much out of this book there are big sections on the history of witchcraft and lots of info on chakjra's, tarot and other divination technique's. There is also information on people who have influenced witchcraft like John Dee, Gerald Gardner, Dion Fortune etc.

There are also some lovely recipe's you can use for each Sabbat which I thought was a nice addition to the book.

All in all thisis one of the best book's I have seen and look forward to more from Ms Trobe.

Excellent must buy!5
Once again, Kala provides us with a wonderfully written detailed volume. This is perhaps one of her greatest achievements thus far, being bigger than her previous works, including information from her previous books, along with pieces written by other experienced writers in the fields of witchcraft, folklore, cookery and health and fitness. One may feel the title of this book is a lot to live up to, but Kala succeeds the challenge in covering virtually every issue we can come across in life and providing the sensible views many Witches have on such matters and how to deal with them, demonstrating her great experience as a dedicated occultist.

The book is divided into three main sections; Part one – Philosophy and ethics, part two – factual witchcraft and part three - practical witchcraft. Love, sex, death, drugs, food, health, money and employment, morality, the wheel of the year, are just some of the topics Kala explores, along with specific areas of the occult such as divination, tools, spellcasting, the Qabala and more. Not only did I enjoy Kala’s dry, witty and subtle English humour, I also greatly appreciated how concisely her information was presented. This book gives very good history on the well known occultists and Witches who have influenced the modern witchcraft movement, along with history on Qabala, Tarot, and the Chakras. I never knew just when the chakra system was introduced into the West, for example, even though I have read many books on the subject. This is just one of the many examples which demonstrate Kala’s excellent scholarly skills which make her stand out from the crowd of many other occult and new age authors we are more accustomed to reading today.

I also liked Kala’s non-discriminatory views and her “live and let live” attitude, respectful of the many diverse occult paths around today. This book is not purely aimed at Wiccans, but Witches of different philosophies, lifestyles and traditions. She makes it very clear that Wicca is just one specific form of practising Witchcraft and has no bias towards one Witch “type” over the other. I loved her equal treatment of both folk magick practices and ceremonial and Crowleyan systems, mentioning Witches she has met in her own life (there is a great deal of personal experience to be found in this book) of both systems.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough and believe it to be an important work in modern Witchcraft literature, it is a must buy for all Witches.

The guide for every witches life5
this book is the best if you are a witch or thinking about becoming one this is the book!! No 'fluffiness' here just top quality information and a book you will refer to again and again.

One of the best reads I have had for ages!
