Product Description

Melody Logan knew her beautiful mother, Haille, was unhappy in their blue-collar mining town, but with her father's unwavering love, Melody always felt safe - until a terrible mining accident ripped her from her family's moorings. Still devastated by her father's death, Melody leaves West Virginia with her mother to follow Haille's dreams of becoming a model or actress. But first they make a stopover in Cape Cod to visit Melody's father's family for the first time. Melody knows only that her grandparents disowned her father when he married her mother - but now, moments after Melody first sets eyes on her dour, Bible-spouting Uncle Jacob, nervous Aunt Sara, and her cousins, handsome Cary, whose twin sister Laura has been killed in a sailing accident, and sweet, deaf little May, Haille announces that Melody is going to live with them. Sleeping in her dead cousin Laura's room, Melody knows nothing of the dark deceptions that are soon to surface, the sad, shocking truth about her parents - and the devastating betrayals that she is about to face.

Customer Reviews

Not as compelling as the other series but a good read!4
This book is part of the Logan series. It tells us of a girl called Melody. Her father dies and her mother leaves her with his brother (Melody's Uncle) and his family to persue her dream of being a model/actress.
Melody feels all alone. Having lost both parents in a short space between each other. She's grateful to her Aunt Sara who is very kind to her but she doesn't feel like she fits in and she longs to go back to her "home"
Living at her Uncles, she soon finds out things she didn't know before. She starts unlocking the past piece by piece and starts to see the painful truth in which was concealed all these years.
This book was hard to get going. With V.Andrews books, you can't put them down but this one, you just have to stick with it. You get to about 1/2 way when you start the, must read more, can't put down stage!
If you like this, I highly recommend the Casteel series starting with Heaven or the Dollanganger starting with Flowers in the Attic.

Worth the read5
As someone who has read all of Virginia Andrew's books written before this one, I believe it is on the same par as them and defintely worth the read. Leaving you wanting to know the secrets and lies as is her style...it is great. Currently on the third in the series and will defintely be reading the rest.

It can get a bit predictable at times...with the secrets, incest and everything that tends to be the theme of every book she writes, however, in a new setting like every series, it absorbs you as a reader.

amazing5
I recently read this book after finishing "my sweet audrina" and found it amazing. The relationship between Melody and Carey is so sweet even though it could be said that it is similar to the relationship in many of virgina's books. The book made me feel i was stood next to Melody when all the problems she had to face was beginning and i found it hard to put the book down
