Customer Reviews
We love this book "SO MUCH"!
Successive family members arrive at the house on a sultry summer afternoon, each announcing themselves noisily and expressing their love for the toddler in their own individual way. Each time, the commotion dies down until the next arrival, everyone apparently waiting for something to happen - but what? All the while, the toddler revels in the attention he is receiving and the family delight in his presence.
We've had this book for a few years now and I've recently started reading it all over again - this time to my youngest, who is just 3. Initially, it took me a while to get the hang of the text and it annoyed me that there were, apparently, grammatical errors. I kicked myself when I eventually realised that it's meant to be read with a lilting West Indian rhythm and that the language is actually perfect for the genre. My older two daughters, aged 6 and 5, now creep into the room to listen, unable to resist the charm of the characters, the vibrant illustrations and the poetic rhythm of the text.
So Much Fun
The book was recommended to us by a family member. We bought the book for our twins who love the book more than any other. It is the repetitive nature of the story makes it a winner, at 18 months old the twins could anticipate the storyline, and gleefully call out the next words. The artwork beautifully brings the story to life. The book clearly is a classic!
Superbly written book and a wonderful story.
What an absolutely brilliant book. I used to read it, accent and all, to my Daughter almost every night before she went to bed. The pictures are So Good too. 10 years later, I still remember all the words!
You must buy this and give your kids( and yourself) a treat.
