Product Description

A critique of government propaganda and media distortion on the attack on Iraq, this book aims to destroy the idea that the mainstream media has anything to do with objectivity and balance. The propaganda machinery of the UK and US in the Iraq war is exposed as fundamentally dishonest and as a significant threat to freedom of thought and expression. The book draws on the experience of leading anti-war and media activists to provide analysis and guidance on how to resist the media war.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap
'If you suspect that the media have not told you the full truth about the Iraq War, read this book. It is a revelation.' Professor James Curran, Goldsmiths College, University of London

Did the US and UK governments lie about weapons of mass destruction to promote an attack on Iraq?

Did the media hold them to account or act as cheerleaders for war?

Tell me Lies reveals the systematic propaganda used by both the US and UK governments to convince us of the 'threat' from Iraq. It shows how we were deliberately misled into a war that has resulted in a humanitarian disaster in Iraq and threatens to create further instability and resentment of the US and UK throughout the Middle East.

Written by some of the world's leading journalists and commentators, it's a scathing indictment of the role of the mainstream media in legitimising government actions and undermining dissent. Critics, activists and journalists from both sides of the Atlantic explore alternatives such as the internet and Al Jazeera and provide analysis and guidance on resisting the media war.

Very in-depth5
This is one of the first books of this sort I have read and I wasn't disappointed. I bought it for use in a project at college and with it I was able to get most of my research done.
The book is split into lots of different articles so you get a broad range of views (although all of them sceptical) with some merely expressing their views and others conducting studies etc.
Overall the book gives a very in-depth view into the Iraq conflict and raises a lot of questions you had never even thought of before - a definite must-buy for anyone interested.

one of the best books5
I bought the book and I am pleased to say that I found what I was looking for. An extensive collection of articles full of rational arguments of what is going on in Iraq and the un-holy war that is still taking place there.
It provokes and probes and stimulates..
if you are after a journey of shocking truths this one is for you..
get it now and enjoy the ride!

Excellent Revlations5
This one of the excellent new books on Iraq and the lies leading to its bloody war.....I also advise reading The Bewildered Herd: Media Coverage of International Conflicts & Public Opinion
