very good4
This book is very good for beginners who are finding it hard to get to grips with the ideas of philosophy. It explains the basic problems of philosophy in small, easy to understand portions. A must for students learning philosophy.

a late starter5
speaking as a 60 y o beginning academic study for the first time, I found this book to be a fine introduction to theological and philosophical theories. An excellent starter, enough information to provide a basic grounding without there being too much dry stuff to bury further interest.
