The World of Shakespeare
I have been working through this book with my 10-year-old daughter as part of her first introduction to Shakespeare and she has loved it. The book covers just about everything you need to know at that level, from what life was like in Shakespeare's time to the relevance in today's world. It gives a precis of each play, and looks at the language and characters. It is all presented in bite-size pieces, and my daughter was able to 'dip' into the book and look at small chunks, without having to read all of it if she didn't want to. Not suitable for in-depth study, but packed full of information designed to stimulate a child or young teenager's interest. An excellent little book.
