16 Great Christmas recipes and decoration ideas for children4
Another superbly illustrated childrens book from Usborne. Coconut mice, peppermint creams, shining star biscuits and wrapping ideas. All easy to achieve and with fairly basic ingredients and material. Each page has both photographs and diagrams of 'how to'. Great for anyone working with children.

Aimed at 4 year old+ this is a great book for aspiring young chefs4
produced with that typical Usborne appeal!

An enticing and colourful Christmassy cover for this large format young cook's paperback, which opens to 32 high quality shiny pages.
Laid out in the popular 2-page spread format, a contents list precedes the 14 recipes, then the 2 pages of wrapping ideas, with `Tags and Ribbons' on the very last.

Each recipe is clearly laid out with the title, the quantity, the list of ingredients, and a numbered method, along with an oven temperature (if required).

Helpful child-friendly tips are littered throughout, e.g.:-

`The cake should be springy when you press it'
or
`Use a wooden spoon`.

The superb, full-colour illustrations are further enhanced by step-by-step pictures and the text is clear and easy-to-follow, with the method being in a larger size of font.

Example of text:-

From Shining Star Biscuits:-

(1) Using a wooden spoon, mix the sugar and butter really well, getting rid of any lumps in the mixture.

(2) Break the egg into a separate bowl. Beat the egg with a fork until the yolk and the white are mixed together.

(3) Mix half of the beaten egg into the mixture in the bowl, a little at a time. You don't need the other half.

(4) Sift the flour, cornflour and mixed spice through a sieve. Mix everything together really well with a wooden spoon.

(5) Squeeze the mixture with your hands until a firm dough is formed. Make the dough into a large ball.

(6) Sprinkle a clean work surface with a little flour......

then the fun (and mess, depending on age) really begins!

Basic - more for kids3
This is a simple and fun christmas cookbook, really more to do with the kids helping, than on your own, although I did manage to add a few twists of my own to make it slightly more adult - like adding a splash of white or dark rum to the truffles, mmm delicious and all the recipes are incredibly simple with only the barest hint of actual cooking involved.
