In a cavern called The House of Thunder, Susan Thorton watched in terror as her lover died a brutal death in a college hazing. And in the following four years, the four young men who participated in that grim fraternity rite also died violently. Or did they?
Twelve years later Susan wakes in a hospital bed. Apparently involved in a fatal accident, she is suffering from amnesia. She doesn’t remember who she is or why she is there. All she knows is that her convalescence is unfolding into a fearful nightmare – and that the faces that surround her, pretending loving care, are those of the four men involved in that murder years before.
Have the dead come back to life? Or has Susan plunged into the abyss of madness? With the help of her neurosurgeon, Susan desperately clings to her sanity while fighting to uncover who or what could be stalking her…

Customer Reviews
Keeps you guessing right up until the end!
I read this book several months ago, but I remember not being able to put it down. Koontz really gets you questioning the sanity of the main character, and keeps you guessing right up until the last few pages. A must for any Dean Koontz fan!
Koontz in his prime!
The plot to this story was thick and kept me guessing to the end. I felt all the characters were fantastic and used well. Koontz kept my interest and if I could have, I would have read this in one sitting as I could not put it down. [But I couldn't because it was a work night and I stayed up till 1am when I had to get up at 7am the next day!.. even then it gave me nightmares!]
This is a must if you love amnesia based terror and horror. A must for Koontz fans and horror fans!
A fantastic read that keeps you hanging onto every page!
A must read for any fans of Koontz or brilliant books
The House of Thunder stands out in my memory as being significantly different in mood and style from other Koontz books. Wonderful plot and living, breathing characters are of course the norm from Koontz, but this book has an indefinable quality about it that sets it apart from the others. It explores the darker possibilities of fratenity activity and the extremes of emotion and action that can transpire when people are bound to and by secrecy to some code of behaviour they begin to deem as supreme to all other considerations and previously adhered-to modes of behaviour. Scary and thought-provoking, The House of Thunder shows the versatility of its author's imagination and storytelling skill and style. You will love The House Of Thunder.
