Great Gripping Stuff
What a tragedy that Mr Richard Laymon is no longer in this world. He has to have been one of the greatest writers of this genre of all time.I don't understand why his books have not done better than they have especially with the trash that a certain Stephen King likes to produce these days.On that subject I wouldn't even put this author in the same league as Stephen King as Richard Laymon books are interesting and actually make sense.People who write reviews on Stephen King books and give them five stars have obviously not read this multi talented writer.Laymon's books are renound for being very gory and perhaps containing some scenes in them that would read like an 11 year old boys wet dream but having said that his writing is so rich that you can see straight past this and appeciate just how good a writer he really is.The thing that he is most good at is holding the readers attention right the way through the book.I have never picked one of his books up and got through the first chapter and thought I would put it down. His books seem to be the sort that you find totally impossible to put down.It is as if every Richard Laymon book has sticky glue on the cover and it makes it impossible for you to put it down. This book is not an exception to this rule.As the story starts you are already wondering where all this is going to lead and the writer takes you on a rollercoaster journey to get yo there. You can relate directly to the main character because you know that you would probably do exactly the same thing in her situation.I mean if you were given instruction that you could find money somewhere without really having to do anything you'd go looking wouldn't you! Of course as the price of the prize mounts so does what is at stake.Laymon does what he does best in this book and that is that he puts the character in such terrible conflict with her own emotions you are left wondering whether a. she will go mad or b. kill herself trying the more and more bizarre ways devised to test her resolve.Anyway in summing up this book as usual was fantastic and I was only sorry that it had to end.
WOW!
This book is amazing!!I own all Laymons books and they are all brill but this one is one of his best.....sure puts truth in the phrase "can't put it down"..Laymon has got to be the best writer I have read and your gonna have loads of fun with this one...keeps you guessing all the way through. When a chapter ends you cant stop yourself reading more. One to read over and over again!
A Great Page Turner
This is not only the best Laymon book I've read but the best book I've read PEROID. I used to think that the cliche " I couldn't put it down " was a bit stupid until I read this. I mean you tell yourself that you will put it down after you finish the next chapter but they all end in a cliffhanger like "and the floor creaked" or "she picked up the box" AAAHH !!! GIVE ME A BREAK I WANT TO SLEEP.By the end of this book my eyes were hanging out like a labatory beagle.
Start reading this at the weekend because if you have to work next morning then forget it.
Come on Mr. Laymon MORE MORE MORE !!!!!
