Product Description

The supermarket shouldn't have been shut. It wasn't normal for Elsie to quit early, or for the guard dog to end up like hamburger meat, or for Elsie herself to feature on the butcher's slab, neatly wrapped and jointed. Residents of Oasis, like hotshot reporter Lacey Allen had better beware!

Great, quick read5
This is my nineth Laymon book and every time I read something by him I am still amazed at how good a writer he is. All of his books are fast-paced and very addictive.
This was the first of the shorter Laymon books I read - it is only 279 pages - and wasn't sure if it would be up to the standard of his other books, but it was just as fantastic ever and I read it in 2 days.

The basic plot of the story is that reporter, Lacey Allen is being terrorised by an invisible man who has just murdered the local store owner, Elsie. It's hard to describe the story line without making it sound dull or giving away any plot twists but this is a great book I would recomend to all and think it would be especially good for those who will be on a traveling for several hours as it is quite literally a read-in-one-sitting book.

The only negative thing that I will say is that this book would not be appropriate for children under the age of 16 or 17 (and the same for most Richard Laymon books) as it has graphic sex and violence as well as frequent sex references.

In conclusion, another great book from Laymon. Give it a try and I guarantee you wont be sorry.

Gripping, Explict, and a fantastic read5
Another fantastic book by Laymon. If you have ever read a Laymon book you will want to buy this one. It has loads of twists death and sex writen in a fashion as to avoid cliché and trashy writing which can be the trap of so many horror writers.

Laymon has a unique and brilliant writing style5
He has his very own writing style - well, most of the better authors do but Laymon's is really unique. No one writes like him. His novels are always gory, there's always a lot of violence, people are being stalked, women are getting raped. It's always the same situation - people are being victimized in the worst ways imaginable, because some seemingly tough guy/guys think it's funny and they get away with it. They might, for a while, but eventually someone will stand up to them and fight back.

Laymon is very creative and comes up with the most far-fetched and unbelievable theories, but the way he describes things, they usually start to sound at least possible quite quickly. Laymon also injects a large portion of (black) humour into his stories. The message is clear - Trust no one. Everyone out there could be a potential killer/rapist/psychopath trying to get you.

I've read 30 Laymon novels and I must say, I'm much more careful now. I certainly make sure all the doors and windows are locked at night! I especially loved The Travelling Vampire Show, Funland and Fiends.
