enthralling, captivating, gripping, an all round hit
Right from the start this book had me gripped. The authors portrayal of struggle, hope and devastation suffered by a tight knit war torn neighbourhood had me in floods of tears, of sadness and joy. The sheer brilliance of Lynda Pages talent has had me scouring the shelves for more of her work. Never have I read anything so captvating and well written I actually felt that I was there.
Very Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book very much. It was easy to pick up and carry on from where you left off without having to think about what intricacies happened that may have been forgotten. I'm not saying it was a `simple' story but it was undemanding and absorbing at the same time. The book includes some really tender moments (like when one sees a best friend die), comical childish escapades and some down right evil actions. This is only the second of Lynda Page's books I've read but I shall certainly pick up a few more.
Another enjoyable read. BUT..........................
I have read most of Lynda Page's books and have enjoyed them all. However, as Lynda claims to be a Leicester resident and her books are also set in that city, then I wish that she`d get someone from Leicester to proof read her stories as most of them have glaring local errors including wrong locations + incorrect spellings. E.g this particular story misspells Hinckley and also puts Birmingham as being north of Leicester.Sorry about being so pedantic but it does irritate me ( and others who have also mentioned the various errors )...
