This pathetic attempt fails on every level.
...Those who aren't aware of the tales of malfunctioning sharks and the authorship battle of the Indianapolis speech can easily discover this information on the Internet or in frequent magazine articles rather than waste their money on this childish effort.

The book's fragmented structure mirrors Andrews's fragmented ideas particularly when he attempts a reading. A section entitled "Signs and Meanings" suggests that this would be a perfect textbook if Film Studies was available at Key Stage 2.

Potential elements for analysis are skimmed over or barely touched upon, and he settles for the rather obvious shark-is-phallic-symbol reading. If a 'Shark Quiz' was not infantile enough, he devotes a section transcribing key sound effects: 'KKZZSSKGHscrkscrr' is his warped description of the noise of Quint's fingernails scraping the blackboard.

An interview with Roy Scheider is lazily transcribed in numbered snippets rather than integrated into the main body, and he includes a short essay by another unknown only, seemingly, so he can indulge himself with an "author's response."

The illustrations, comprised of storyboards and film stills, are interesting, but not enough to compensate for the careless, useless and indefensible text...

great entertaining book
This book isn't just for the Jaws freak, it is compulsory reading for anyone who denies that Jaws is one the greatest movies ever.

Loveingly created, this guy confirms all our suspicions that JAWS is one of the most important films for the 30 something generation. All the stories are here from sibling rivalry to onset bullies to a several ton non functioning lump of imagination. Well put togethyer, well paced this is every Jaws fans wet dream.
