A good dip-in resource
This book is designed as a dip-in resource and I have used it in exactly that way. It is full of tips that are practical and easily applicable. It is especially useful for the new trainer or for the part time trainer. If you are training others to train then it can be an invaluable back up resource.
In my opinion one particularly useful section is that on Looking After Yourself as a Trainer as this is an area which is often overlooked.
Excellent practical tips and suggestions.
Enjoyed reading this book. It is:
Easy to read - written in short chapters
Excellent resource
Ideal for people starting in training
Very useful and practical
Most enjoyed the tips on evaluations, feedback, difficult participants and filling five minutes until coffee break.
Perhaps the 500 need to be distilled somewhat...
This is a good resource for the beginning trainer and as a reminder/memory jogger for the rest of us who `take it for granted'. However, some of the tips are just too obviouse even for the absolute novice (as pointed out below).
The tips are arranged into categories:
1) Planning & Preparation.
2) Getting Participants Going.
3) Using Things Around You - this chapter (and the following chapter as well) seemed almost completely redudant with the exception of handful of tips and ideas.
4) Keeping your Training Sessions Going.
5) Looking after Yourself.
6) Evaluating your Training Sessions.
