Product Description

The current failure rate for students of Veterinary Nursing is high, due in part to the fact that there is a shortage of suitable texts available.

One key skill every student must acquire is the ability to differentiate between the various surgical instruments in use. In the past, the shortage of published material in this area has even meant students resorted to collecting equipment manufacturers' brochures for learning purposes!

This book will provide a timely guide to each of the instruments in common use. Illustrated throughout, Veterinary Surgical Instruments: an illustrated guide includes line drawings depicting the working heads of the instruments on an enlarged scale, as well as providing a concise description of their usage and design.and physiology, management, hygiene and feeding, first aid, basic hospital practice, and the theory and practice of nursing.

A useful addition to the veterinary practice library3
This book is useful for pre-veterinary nurses, trainee nurses and for new members of staff at a practice. Veterinary instruments have complicated names because they are often named after the people who "invented" them. If only all these people had had easy names then the instruments would be easier to spell and remember! This book logically groups the instruments together and illustrates the main differences between them. I would have liked to have seen photographs as well as the diagrams, because this would make the instruments easier to recognise in the flesh. But this is a minor point, and I would recommend the book even if it is just used to check the spellings of the strange names.

Not the best reference guide for serious students2
This book is ok for general practice use, not for serious students. It would have been better if there were pictures instead of drawings of the instuments detailed. This book only scratches the surface of the surgical instuments used in Veterinary Practice.

A bit pricy for the basic content of the book.2
Although this book is helpful, it's a bit limited. There are hundreds of different instruments used in Veterinary Practice and i've found that this book only scratches the surface. This book would probably benefit pre-VN students or assistants new to the Veterinary Practice the most.
It would of been more helpful if there were pictures of the instruments instead of drawings.
