The new edition of this popular text book
The second edition of 'Sports Injuries' has been updated to include recent research material and to give the book a more practical feel. A new chapter on muscle imbalance has been included to recognise the importance now placed on this subject within physiotherapy. In addition new chapters are included on sports taping and on sports massage. The number of pages and line figures has been significantly increased to increase the breadth of material now offered.
Customer Reviews
excellentfor podiatry physio
The book is an excellent resource for anyone interested in sports injuries or doing a medical course such as podiatry or physio but it is also explained well enough so as the general public could use it.The book explains the biomechanical causes of injuries which is very useful as i'm training to become a podiatrist The auther goes into heat and ice traetment s first aid and also rehab such as strength training and goes into the basic principles. An all roung good text
Useful book - but not for diagnosis!
This is a well-written and concise book that is well-illustrated and contains a lot of info not in most sport injury books. With clear illustrations and photos, this book makes a good reference for sports therapists, physios, etc. The only complaint I have about the book is the layout. The book is written in 2 setions: (1) Diagnosis and (2) Management. Both sections contain lots of interesting and useful info but the contents of the Diagnosis section seem completely irrelevant. For example, what does "healing", "sports massage" and "taping" have to do with diagnosing an injury? As I have an exam on The Definitions & Diagnosis of Injury, I bought this book specifically for the Diagnosis section, but have not found it useful for diagnosis at all. The book should really be called "Sports Injuries - Prevention and Management"!
Best Buys
Excellent book with informative, concise, detailed and specific content relative to the sports professional whether they are an athlete, coach or trainer. Book is light enough to take with you for those unexpected occasions you may need to utilise the information unlike a lot of other sports related books. Diagrams and explanations easily understood. In looking at value for money you cannot go passed this book it will supply you with all the information you need.
