Doug Stewart, Head of Horticulture, Bishop Burton College
'First of all it is worth emphasising that Laurie Brown has produced an extremely valuable and worthwhile book ... I would expect to see it soon become a standard reference. It is clear, easy to use and principles are well explained.'
'Easy to read and very relevant to National Certificate, BTEC, and RHS courses.'
Nigel White, Lecturer, Moulton College
Customer Reviews
Excellent self learning textbook
This book is a high quality textbook which has a syllabus similar to the RHS level 2 exam. Set out in small 'bitesize' sections followed by
questions or a practical. Some of the practicals are not possible for the self learner such as those that require chemicals or lab equipment. Some of the text sections do not go into great detail and so push the reader into using other sources (no bad thing) in order to answer all the questions. Diagrams are good.
I would recommend this (or any later revision) to anyone who wants to study horticulture at home. I would not recommend for someone who wants a book for casual reading on the subject.
