Good for a beginner3
For anyone with an interest in Motor vehicle technology who want to know a bit more this is a good book but for anyone studying mechanics who are working towards NVQII/III it's not in depth enough. I would recommend getting Hillier's book instead which is far more detailed, just as easy to read and cheaper. For something a little heavier there is also the magnificently deep 'Light & Heavy vehicle technology' by M J Nunney. The problem with all these books is that they don't cover new tech that has come in the last few years.

A Practical Approach to Motor Vehicle Engineering and Maintenance4
I enjoyed the book and its logical layout for each of the topics included. There were many Learniong Tasks included together with Self Assessment Questions; however I sometimes found it difficult to provide an 'answer' for some of the questions or learning tasks as the information was buried quite deep a long way infront of the 'task', this was from a student's perspective. One final point, was that the answers to the questions, from a student's point of view, were frustrating as there was no CLEAR indication of which set of questions the answers were for (chapter 3); only after undertaking some questions, and looking for the correct answers, was I able to unscramble the correct lists.

Overall a very good book with good diagrams and content, great work.
