The book was brillant, John Van der Kiste and Bea Jordaan really captured the Duke. You got to know him on personnel level, what his marriage was like to the grand duchess Marie of Russia daughter of the Tzar Alexander II and also the relationship he had with his five children. Most importantly with his mother Queen Victoria. His life in the navy and how he coped when he became Duke of Saxe,Coburg and Gotha. The text was really easy to read and I found it impossible to put down. I would tell anyone interested in the children of Queen Victoria to add this to their royal libary.
