Good if you don't mind the style
Brand new from DK, the Keep It Simple Stupid series is yet another American offering with a ridiculous name (the Dummies books and Idiot's Guides being the most well-known). It's excellently put together though, with superb presentation and plenty of illustrations to add flavour to an otherwise rather boring subject matter. There's a definite American bias to the writing style but it certainly isn't intrusive - if you know that bothers you, however, you're better off looking for the International Editions of computer books, and sadly there isn't such a version of this one at present.
